School Vision
Instructional Vision
Wesley School is committed to cultivating an engaging and rigorous learning environment where students are inspired to think critically and actively participate in their education. Teachers employ high-level questioning strategies and personalized coaching to deepen students' understanding and involvement. This emphasis on instructional excellence has earned Wesley School the distinction of being recognized as a School of Distinction by the Connecticut State Department of Education. Our approach ensures that students are not only meeting but exceeding academic expectations.
Social-Emotional Learning and Climate & Culture
At Wesley School, we prioritize the development of the whole child by fostering a strong foundation in social-emotional learning. Through the RULER program, students learn to identify and regulate emotions, develop positive relationships, and enhance classroom behavior, contributing to academic success. Our multi-tiered support system includes whole-class SEL lessons, small-group interventions led by our SEL Interventionist, and the Circle of Friends program, which supports students with varying social-emotional needs. These initiatives ensure that every student feels supported, valued, and ready to thrive in a welcoming school environment.
After-School Programs
Wesley School provides a vibrant array of after-school programs that extend learning and creativity beyond the classroom. Students can participate in a diverse range of activities, from the Virtual Reality Club and Art Workshops to Dance, Ukulele, Gaga Ball Clubs and Italian Clubs. These programs, led by dedicated Wesley School staff, engage more than half of our student body each year, creating opportunities for exploration, teamwork, and personal growth. By broadening students’ experiences, we aim to enrich their knowledge and foster a lifelong love for learning.
